I'm proud to announce that I'm now an Ambassador for both Eryri National Park and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park 〰️

My love of being outdoors began as a boy growing up in Cheshire. My big brother Chris and I spent endless days exploring local woodlands, fields and country lanes with groups of friends, seeing the seasons changing and always knowing when it was time to go home for tea !

Years later, getting my first car gave me access to the stunning Snowdonia National Park, just over an hour’s drive from home. It was there that my lifelong interest in hillwalking (and occasional scrambling) took hold. This was in the days of 35mm SLR film cameras, ever present in the back pack even then, and my brother was lucky enough to afford his first Nikon while I scraped enough money together to buy a Praktica !!

In 2016, after a long career in telecommunications, I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse and after a nanosecond of contemplation, took early retirement at the age of 58. My main aim was to begin spending more time in the hills and on the coast as by this time I had re-located to South Wales and had the fabulous Brecon Beacons and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast on my doorstep. Photographing these special locations was as enjoyable as just being there and by now I’d graduated to DSLRs.

Camera gear takes quite a bit of a battering outdoors (well mine does!) so choosing Nikon was a great decision, as despite many slips and falls, my kit has never let me down. My brother’s camera from all those years ago was definitely an influence in my choice of brand, so thanks Chris !

In recent years I’ve begun to use social media more and more after a nudge from a potential client persuaded me to jump into the world of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I’ve reconnected with many lifelong friends through publishing my images online and their feedback has encouraged me hugely.

Since I first published my website in 2020 I’ve built up a client base in Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia, many of whom return to make additional purchases from my webshop. Their custom is so important to me and I hope to be able to provide them with great service for many years to come.
